‘Thor’ Update: ‘Ragnarok’ Movie Might Feature Female Villains

"Thor 3: Ragnarok" might achieve a rare feat by adding a female villain into its characters list, which will be different from the roster of Marvel's male archenemies in the past.

Lainey Gossip first broke the news that "Valkyrie," "Amora the Enchantress" or "Hela" might appear in the upcoming third film from the "Thor" movie franchise.

"If Valkyrie is really coming to the big screen, that will make two high-profile female roles being cast in Ragnarok, because I have heard that Marvel is also planning on bringing their first major female villain into their cinematic universe," Lainey Gossip reported.

It is the latest "Thor 3: Ragnarok" after it was reported that Mark Ruffalo ("Begin Again") will play the role of the Incredible Hulk alongside Australian actor Chris Hemsworth ("The Dressmaker"). It was also reported that the movie is in negotiation with New Zealand director Taika Waititi ("Flight of the Concords").

It was also reported that "Thor" will also bring a Hollywood A-list actress, which the outlet described as "Cate Blanchett big." Speaking of Blanchett, she is tapped to play a major role in another upcoming movie, Marvel's "Doctor Strange" starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Mads Mikkelsen.

Last October, Birth.Movies.Death. via Cinema Blend previously announced that "Valkyrie" will be introduced as one of the female superheroes in "Thor." She is a strong warrior who leads the Valkyrior in Asgard. Valkyrie was known for wielding a spear and a sword as her own set of her weapons.

In another article from Cinema Blend, other female Marvel candidates who might appear in "Thor 3: Ragnarok" were put in focus. The list includes the three mentioned villains with the addition of the ambiguous "BloodAxe" and "Karnilla."

"Thor 3: Ragnarok" will premiere on Nov. 3, 2017.
