LG G2 Mini pros and cons

LG has launched its LG G2 Mini earlier than originally planned, releasing it via its Facebook page ahead of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, where the device will officially be disclosed Feb. 24.

LG G2 Mini Versions

The LG G2 Mini comes in two versions: one with the Snapdragon 400 chipset and the other with the Nvidia Tegra 41. Both devices feature a 1.2GHz quad-core and 1GB of RAM. Both non-LTE and dual-SIM versions will be available - a good amount of variations in a single device, with color options set to include red, black, champagne and white.

Physically, the LG G2 Mini looks familiar to its predecessor, with the same rear button placement that has become something of a controversy. The 8-megapixel camera and LED flash are also familiar features. Still in the pack is the decent 2440mAh battery that can be swapped out, as well as a slot for microSD to expand the 8GB internal onboard storage.

Specs

LG G2 Mini's display is a 4.7-inch qHD that runs at 540 x 960 pixels resolution (no 720p, unfortunately). It also comes with 4.4 KitKat, which is good news given Google's recent announcement regarding a signing window for older Android versions looking to hook into their services.

While LG G2 Mini is not breaking any benchmark, it gives a price point for those who don't want to stretch for a premium device like the LG G2.

Russia, interestingly enough, will be the first to get the device, with its rollout set to take place in March. The Middle East, Asia, Europe and Latin America will follow in April.
