Hollywood’s Kindest Celebrity is Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen DeGeneres is named the kindest celebrity in Hollywood by NBC News online poll.

NBC News made an online survey to find out who people think is the kindest celebrity today. According to E! Online, the poll named "State of Kindness" which was powered by Survey Monkey, lists DeGeneres as the A-lister with the biggest heart. She is well noted for her work as an actress, writer, talk show host and comedian but poll participants consider her work as a humanitarian as a big factor in being selected the most kind-hearted celebrity. Runner-ups for the survey are Will Smith, Jimmy Fallon, Jennifer Aniston and Taylor Swift.

DeGeneres is well loved for her genuine surprises on her show, especially when she whips out a surprise for her guests. She is also known to always treat her staff and crew with kindness, always smiling at them when they cross paths. Her humanitarian efforts are also well documented with her name closely associated with UNICEF, PETA and Habitat for Humanity. The Gentle Barn, a rescue shelter for abused animals, is also very close to Ellen's heart and she is regularly promoting it on her show.

A report by Today mentioned the highlights of DeGeneres' career so far. Aside from hosting one of the highest rated TV talk shows "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," she also voiced "Dory" in "Finding Nemo" which will get its own film "Finding Dory" as a sequel. She famously said in the 2001 Emmy Awards, "What would bug the Taliban more than seeing a gay woman in a suit surrounded by Jews?"

The State of Kindness survey showed that 28 percent of the people who joined the poll found Ellen the kindest among the celebrities in Hollywood. Taylor Swift followed with a distant 11 percent while Will Smith and Jimmy Fallon each have 5 percent.
