U2 Series of Concerts in Paris Cancelled After Terror Strike

U2 announced that it will not push through with its scheduled series of concerts in Paris after the tragic terror attack on France's capital that has left 129 people dead and hundreds more injured.

Legendary Irish rock band U2 has decided to cancel two scheduled concerts in Paris and move it to a later and more appropriate time. According to E! Online, the concert scheduled for Nov. 14 and 15 were scrapped upon the decision of the band. The show is a collaboration between U2, Live Nation and HBO. The concert on Saturday is supposed to be aired live but the band promised it will be moved to a future date.

On U2's website, the band posted a statement announcing the cancellations as well as their message for the tragic event that hit Paris. The post reads, "We watched in disbelief and shock at the unfolding events in Paris and our hearts go out to all the victims and their families across the city tonight. We are devastated at the loss of life at the Eagles of Death Metal concert and our thoughts and prayers are with the band and their fans. And we hope and pray that all of our fans in Paris are safe."

In a report by The Hollywood Reporter, the concert is part of the Innocence + Experience Tour and HBO has announced that in lieu of the scheduled live broadcast of the U2 concert, a rerun of the film "Jersey Boys" will be aired instead.

It was also reported that the band was located just mere minutes away from the site of the shootings on Friday. Front man Bono was at the Accor Hotels Arena doing some rehearsal for the show. When news of the shootings reached the crew, the rest of the band were placed in lockdown and under heavy security in their accommodations.
