Famous Landmarks Around The World Light Up To Show Support To Paris After Deadly Attack

Six coordinated gun and bombing attacks took place in Paris last Friday night, Nov. 12 which left 129 people dead and 352 injured. According to CBS New York, after the deadly attacks in Paris, the Eiffel Tower turned its lights off.

The rest of the world is now showing their support to Paris as a lot of famous landmarks as well as other civic and commercial locations around the world displayed the colors of the French flag which are blue, white and red. PEOPLE shared that by doing this the rest of the world are in "solidarité with France."

It has been a spontaneous global support that even Australia, Brazil and China are as one in mourning with Paris.

Yahoo! Celebrity shared that the famous Rio de Janerio's Christ Redeemer statue was lit up as well as the Sydney Opera House in Australia which were seen in social media.

As for the United States, the tip of the Empire State Building went dark as an act of mourning while One World Trade Center lit up the night sky in French colors. San Francisco also paid respect by lighting up the city hall.


It was even reported that during the Washington Capitals hockey game the ice rink lit up to French colors while singing the national anthem.

Meanwhile, London and other British cities were also lit up in French colors as sign of support. The famous London landmarks, the National Theatre, London Eye ferris wheel and Tower Bridge were part of it as well.

Around two thousand people gathered at Trafalgar Square for an evening vigil. It has been reported that there are times that the crowd will transform into a "sea of light" as they held up their mobile phones and candles while singing the national anthem of France and also chanted the French motto, "Liberte, egalite, fraternite".

Even Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip paid tribute and said that they are "deeply shocked and saddened by the terrible loss of life in Paris." Prime Minister David Cameron told the French people that "Your pain is our pain, your fight is our fight."
