Academy Award-winning producer Brian Grazer sells Malibu home for more than $17 million

Brian Grazer, Academy Award-winning producer, has sold his beach house in Malibu Colony for $17,375,000, making it the second most expensive sale in the local Multiple Listing Service so far this year, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Built in 1995 and designed for entertaining, the three-story house covers 6,067 square feet and includes five bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a studio and an office. This Mediterranean-style house also features a media room and an art studio.

The home boasts a deck off the living room with a fireplace as well as a breakfast room, a large patio, a two-floor master suite, elevator, eat-in kitchen facing the water and a beach bathroom.

This beach home is unique in the celebrity enclave of Malibu Colony and has two third-floor towers as well as an indoor swimming pool. The street side of the house is about 60 feet wide, providing enough parking space for about eight cars - a rarity in Malibu Colony. In addition, the home includes a vast entertaining area on its beach side, and a gym.

Public records show that the 62-year-old prolific film and television producer bought the oceanfront house for $13.5 million on Oct. 7, 2003.

An earlier report in Trulia.com says the property has been on and off the market since 2007, undergoing a series of renovations over the years. In 2003, Grazer listed the property for $5 million more, but did not find a buyer. In September that same year, the property was relisted for $18,950,000 and was finally sold this month after a few downward adjustments.

Grazer, along with Ron Howard, founded the production house Imagine Entertainment in 1986 and together they produced a number of films that earned them an estimated $13 billion. He won an Oscar for "A Beautiful Mind" in 2001 and is a producer for the sci-fi western "Cowboys & Aliens," scheduled to be released in July. In addition, Grazer has been the executive producer for "How to Live With Your Parents," "Friday Night Lights" and "Arrested Development."
