Ed Asner, Emmy Award-winning actor and voice artist, has just sold his long-time traditional home in Los Angeles' Studio City neighborhood for $1,306,250, Realtor.com reports.
Built in 1954, the 84-year-old's home sits behind a huge gate, nestled in the midst of mature trees and foliage offering significant privacy. The house covers a floor plan of 2,783 square feet and features an assortment of endearing finishes, such as exposed-beam ceilings, leaded-glass windows, several rows of French doors and brass hardware.
The living area includes three bedrooms, three bathrooms, family rooms, an office, a spacious dining space and a "country" kitchen. The master suite has its own sitting area with a fireplace and a walk-in cedar closet.
On the outside, brick steps lead to the back of the home, a sunny patio and a swimming pool with spa.
The picturesque residence was listed in the market for the first time in July last year for $1.5 million, but failed to find a buyer. The listed price was reduced to less than $1.3 million in November and was eventually sold in December.
Although the property sold for less than its original asking price, Asner still managed to make a substantial profit, having bought it for $540,000 in 1996, according to the the Los Angeles Times.
Famous for his role as the fatherly editor Lou Grant in the 1970s sitcom "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," which earned him an Emmy Award, Asner is the past president of the Screen Actors Guild. In 2013, Asner appeared in the "The Glades" and the TV movie "Christmas on the Bayou." He also worked in the films "Audrey," "The Games Maker" and "Promoted." Currently, Asner is in the series "Men at Work."
