Justin Bieber is most likely heading to trial, sources told TMZ, saying the 19-year-old pop sensation and the Miami Beach prosecutors will not strike a plea deal regarding his DUI case.
Justin has reportedly refused to accept any deal that includes probationary terms, particularly drug testing. As things stand now, the singer's lawyer Roy Black is gearing up for a courtroom battle.
It is speculated that in the worst case, Bieber could spend two-and-a-half years in prison, but that doesn't seem likely at the moment.
Previously, TMZ reported that police offered to drop Bieber's DUI charge if the "Baby" hitmaker subjected to a course on alcohol education, completing 40 hours of community service, undergoing random drug testing for the subsequent six to nine months, installing an ignition interlock mechanism for three months and being present before a "victim impact panel."
Currently, both parties are locked in a stalemate, with the possibility of Bieber being tried for as many as three offenses - including DUI, driving on an expired license, and resisting arrest - looming before the pop star.
On January 23, the Miami police arrested Bieber for drag racing and driving a rented Lamborghini under the influence of alcohol. It was later revealed, however, that Bieber was only driving 27 mph and had a blood alcohol level of .014.
While he was sent to custody, Miami Beach Chief of Police Raymond A. Martinez told a news conference on the same day that Bieber acknowledged that he had been smoking marijuana after consuming beer. Martinez added that Justin had resisted arrest, but there was no violence.
