"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2" will tone down its planned grand premiere of the last installment of the franchise in deference to the Paris tragedy.
Lionsgate, the studio responsible for "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2," has announced that the Los Angeles premiere of the film will not follow the traditional practices of such a big event to show respect to what happened in France recently. According to Entertainment Weekly, stars of the movie which has scenes shot in France have agreed not to do red carpet interviews at the premiere.
A Lionsgate representative said, "Out of respect for the very recent events in Paris, we have decided to modify our red carpet and we will not conduct interviews at Monday's 'Mockingjay 2' premiere. We will proceed with the rest of the event as planned in honor of the incredible fans who have always supported our films with such passion."
The terrible tragedy in Paris which left 129 people dead has led to many cancellations of shows, events, and other activities in the entertainment world. The press event for "Bridge of Spies" which is a film by Steven Spielberg was also canned in the last hour due to the outpouring of support for the tragic events. Another movie premiere was canceled which was scheduled on Monday. Natalie Portman's "Jane Got a Gun" was postponed as it is being distributed by a French company. All interviews for the film were included in the canceled list.
In a report by USA Today, the cast of "Mockingjay 2" is in need of a big break just in time for the release of their final act together for the franchise. Stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth apparently have no grasp of time due to their whirlwind schedules. They have easily forgotten an event which they all attended together at the TCL Chinese Theater - a handprinting ceremony. Lawrence asked, "Was that today?" Hemsworth said, "We have no concept of time right now."
