The upcoming film "Suicide Squad" is speculated to get an "R" rating for its graphic nature until producer Charles Roven said that the movie will be PG-13.
According to Movie Pilot, producer Roven is convinced that "Suicide Squad" will be rated "PG-13" by the ratings board. That is because of the effort that the production crew has given to keep every DC film consistent in terms of content.
The Movie Pilot quotes what Roven has explained, "The intention of the film is definitely to be PG-13... We really want to make these films tonally consistent so that, as I said because this is a shared universe, at least our current thinking-and again, we're not dealing in absolutes because while this is business it's also a creative endeavor."
He continued, "So you want to leave yourself open to changing your mind, doing something different, being inspired, that's the whole process of filmmaking is you have to allow for inspiration as well as having a road map for what you're gonna do. So our plan right now is to make all these films PG-13. In some cases, you know, right there on the edge of PG-13, but still PG-13."
As to the meaning of PG-13, it stand for Parental Guidance-13. According to About Entertainment, a film rated PG-13 might not be suitable for audience below 13 years of age, and parents' supervision and guidance is strongly encouraged. If DC gets this rating, the amount of violence that it can have in "Suicide Squad" can be limited.
The upcoming DC film casts Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne, Will Smith, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney and Ben Affleck among others. The story "Suicide Squad" of will revolve around a group of supervillians hired by a secret government body for a dangerous black ops duties in exchange for clemency.
"Suicide Squad" is expected to hit theaters on August 5, 2016.
