When reports that TAG Heuer was launching its own smart watch, TAG Heuer Connected, surfaced many kept going back to the countdown on the Swiss Watch maker's website.
Now, the $1,500 TAG Heuer Connected is finally out in the market and it is the Swiss luxury watchmaker's first-ever venture into computerized wearables. How does the Swiss watchmaker smart watch compare to the Apple Watch?
According to Apple's online store, the prices of the Apple watch can range from $399 for its basic sport watch to a whopping $17,000 for the 38mm 18-Karat Rose Gold Case with Rose Gray Modern Buckle. On the other hand, TAG Heuer Connected has only one design, and one version with vulcanized rubber strap with grade 2 titanium folding in seven strap color variants for the price of $1,500.
Apple has a squarish design and has versions available for both men and women. On the other hand, Connected's round design that does not deviate from TAG Heuer's signature and traditional look and built with titanium, sapphire, and the best in class touchscreen technology, currently has eyes on the male market only but it will later produce versions for women.
According to Tech Times, TAG Heuer Connected runs with Intel Atom 1.6 GHz dual-core Z34XX chip, instead of the usual Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm that runs most wearables, underneath its three built-in watch faces: the chronograph, three-hand and world time. It also comes with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of storage and can go for 25 hours on a single charge to its 410 mAh battery. The Apple on the other hand uses the S1 chip with a custom CPU by Broadcom, 512MB RAM and 8GB of internal storage and can go for 18 hours with varied use.
With the prices and the specs under the hood of both luxury watches given in a nutshell, which smart watch would you choose on your wrist?
