Oliver Stone lists Manhattan apartment for $2.9 million

Oliver Stone, the award-winning movie director, has reportedly put his Manhattan apartment up for sale with a $2.9 million price tag. The residence is also available for rent for $13,000 a month, according to several news reports.

The Wall Street Journal, which broke news of the listing, says Stone used it as a temporary residence when he was in New York. He purchased the place when he was shooting "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" in 2010 for $2.2 million.

The residence is a part of the 1 Morton Square apartment building located in the West Village. The 1,736-square-foot condo has two bedrooms, two full and one half bathrooms. Boasting 11-foot high ceilings, hardwood flooring and floor-to-ceiling glass windows, the home offers ample views of the Hudson River.

According to the floor plans, the main entrance opens into a large foyer, which leads to a cozy kitchen. The huge living room is divided to make room for a dining area. The master bedroom is to the left of the dining area while another bedroom lies on the right of the living room. Each of the bedrooms has en-suite bathrooms and walk-in-closets.

Amenities offered by 1 Morton Square include a round-the-clock doorman, concierge and valet services. A large modern gym, a children's playroom and indoor parking facilities are some of its other features. The building has been home to several other celebrities, such as Julia Roberts, Daniel Radcliffe and Amy Poehler, reports The Real Deal.

The listing of the residence is held by Paul Anand of the Corcoran Group. Anand told the Journal that Stone wants to move to a large space and is looking for something "over 2,000 square feet."

Interiors of the Manhattan apartment are all done up in red, white and blue, giving the apartment an eccentric patriotic feel. Stone's penchant for political and historical drama (his documentary "The Untold History of the United States" is now available on DVD) may help explain the color scheme.

One of the comments on The Real Estalker says it feels like living in a "can of Red Bull."

Stone owns a 6,500-square-foot, five-bedroom home in the Mandeville Canyon area of Los Angeles, which serves as his primary residence.
