With an eleven winning streak, Golden State Warriors is indeed a force to be reckoned with in the NBA league. Having an unblemished record of 11 straight wins and 0 losses this regular season, one cannot help but think that this team is really unbeatable. They might even surpass their record last season of 67 wins and 15 losses, and a chance to tie or even go beyond Chicago Bull's record of 72 wins in 1996.
Before the start of this season some reports and predictions suggested that the Warriors may have a 64-18 win-loss record for the season. However, with the momentum currently on their side and with the game performance of the MVP Stephen Curry, they might just simply invalidate those predictions. Even with the absence of their head coach, Steve Kerr, the Warriors are hammering their opponents, one team at a time.
However, there seems to be no sign of contentment and complacency on the Warriors camp, for Steve Kerr reminded his team that such thing should not happen. Draymond Green shared via realgm what Kerr once told them.
"Coming into camp, the one thing Coach Kerr talked about was 'everything next level. I think guys have made a concerted effort to do that. There's a lot we can do better at. We had 23 turnovers (against Memphis), some slippage there. But overall, I think guys are really conscious and focused on taking it to the next level."
It seems like the guys of Kerr under the guidance of interim head coach Luke Walton is true to the aim of taking their game to the next level. The current league MVP Stephen Curry is a true personification of their aim. Curry is totally taking his performance to the next level with all his surprise moves and distinct shooting performance. Klay Thompson even shared via nba his thoughts on Curry's season performance. Thompson stated that, "He makes it look so easy, night after night. Obviously it's tough for him to put these numbers up for 82 games, but he surprises us every night."
In this campaign of taking the game to the next level, Andre Iguodala also has something to say about it. The savior of their game against Brooklyn Nets last saturday stated via nba that, "You look at an organization [pertaining to Spurs] like that, and say that's what you want to be consistent, because they've become consistent. That's what you start striving for night in and night out." He then added that, "That's where you want to get to. You don't want to be comfortable with that on and off switch."
Warriors guard Shaun Livingston also stated via nba another reason why they are on top. Livingston shared that, "We're capable, but early on in the season, it's the process of staying disciplined...And staying disciplined, not letting up, paying attention to details, closing out quarters -- all the little things."
On the defensive end of their game, another player is setting the bars high for the team. Festus Ezeli is conscious about the offensive prowess of their team, which is why on the defensive end he would like to "take it one possession at a time, take it one game at a time. So when I come into the game, my focus is on how I can change the game and how I can affect the game, and mostly the way I can do it is on the defensive end."
The motivation of taking their game to the next level, not just the NBA title, seemed to be the driving force propelling the Warriors to win and outplay their opponents each match. Their consistency every now and then is the key on why they are overwhelming each opponent they meet inside the hard court. Founded on discipline and focus on the game, the warrior is taking the NBA season like storm, showing no signs of contentment or even complacency.
The output of Golden State Warriors and their impact on the league should not be seen as an over-reaction, but rather it should be viewed as a team-effort and as a challenge for other teams to overcome.
