Home Design Mistakes: Tempting Home Upgrades You Should Not Do

Designing a home is one of the most exciting things you can do as a homeowner. While in home design the limit is your imagination, there may be some tempting home upgrades that you shouldn't do. Here are some home design moves that you should think twice about before doing:

1. Home Office

Having a home office is a dream come true to most people, especially now that more people work from home (or at least bring their work home). As convenient as you may think it is, adding a home office will bring in space issues, plus it may cost a lot. But in case you really wanna go for a home office, lose the pricey built in shelves, rather, go for multi purpose furniture that are easy to remove and move in case you wanna turn that office room into something else in the future.

2. Master bed upgrades

You may have endless ideas for a master bedroom improvement, and this may include heavy additions such as costly furniture, premium bath tubs, high end showers, and the likes. Aiming for a luxurious bedroom is great, just as long as you understand that this move may take a toll on you when you resell your home, as all the costs that you spent in your master bedroom upgrade won't come back to you 100%. In fact, you may only earn half of what you had spent on that upgrade when you decide to sell your home.

Nonetheless, if you think you won't be selling that home in the future, or if you don't mind the losses, you can go to that home store and have at it!

3. Kitchen upgrades

You may be tempted to buy all that gourmet chef level kitchen equipment simply to get that dream kitchen. But if these tools aren't necessary in your life, they may end up being unused, pouring all that money down that state-of-the-art kitchen drain. If you must upgrade your kitchen, you can opt for repainting the cabinets, or laminating the flooring and counter tops.

4.Pastel bath tubs

There was a time when the pastel colored bathroom fixtures are a thing, but that trend didn't last long for a reason. If you give in to your pink bath tub craving, you may end up regretting it when it's time to sell your home, as these kinds of bathroom fixtures usually don't look good in home showing and web listing. The key point here is that, short term trend shouldn't be applied to home designs as this may cost you a lot of money when you decide that you no longer find these stuff appealing.
