'X-Men: Apocalypse' Update: New ‘X-Men’ Film to Start Production in 2017 As a Follow Up to Fox's Upcoming Film

Even before "X-Men: Apocalypse" hits theaters, rumors of another X-Men film production have been circulating.

According to Bam! Smack! Pow!, there is no final word released by the 20th Century Fox regarding the new "X-Men" production. The film outfit is keeping mum about another mutant film. Many would have believed that "Apocalypse" will be the final installment of the "X-Men" saga since its story serves as a conclusion to the series.

However, reshoots of the "X-Men: Apocalypse" in Montreal brought about reports that the same location for the reshoot will be used for the next film. Journal De Montreal also claimed that not only will "X-Men" be back in Canada for a new film, but the production will be back in 2017 led by Bryan Singer, who is speculated to be directing the movie again.

It would not be a surprise that Singer will direct this alleged film yet again given his success in all his previous "X-Men" movies.

The follow-up to "Apocalypse" is yet to be titled and no actors have been cast yet. However, it is still too early for pre-production and Fox is currently busy with a handful of Marvel mutant films already to produce another one.

"Gambit" is set to be released in October 2016, while the final installment of "Wolverine" will be shown in March 2017. The rumored "X-Men" movie has no release date yet, but if rumors are confirmed, it might be released in summer 2018, Comicbook stated.

On the other hand, "X-Men: Apocalypse" will hit theaters in May 2016, even if reshoots have delayed the production. A trailer for the film will be released alongside the showing of the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

Familiar faces will be back for the sixth installment in the "X-Men" franchise, including James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), and Nicholas Hoult (Beast). Joining the three are younger cast members who will be playing familiar mutants in their teens.
