NVIDIA, the GPU maker, unveiled a new tablet recently. Dubbed as the "Shield Tablet K", the device is simply an imitation of its predecessor. In fact, the "Shield Tablet K1" did not really add anything, they may have even taken some things away - like a hundred bucks off the tag.
The biggest catch is that the tab won't come with a charger, cable, and stylus. But you may have tens of chargers sitting in the corners of your house, so it may be a fair deal. The stylus can be bought as a separate merchandise for $20, and so is the charger that is at $30. You can also get a wireless controller if you are willing to drop $60 more.
For the specs, the "Shield Tablet K1" has a 1920 x 1200 pixels screen. It uses a Tegra K1 chipset with a CPU of quad core Cortex A15. It then uses a Kepler GPU (192 cores, 852 MHz) and it comes with a RAM of 2 GB. If you own a 4K TV at home, the tab can output 4K through HDMI. From the box, the "Shield Tablet K1" runs the Lollipop Android and the tab only has 16 GB of internal storage, so it means that if you want room for your games, you might wanna plug in a card in the microSD slot.
Furthermore, the tab has front speakers, Bluetooth support, and GPS. Of course, it has Wi Fi, but there is also an optional LTE support. The "Shield Tablet K1" comes with a 19.75Wh battery. Additionally, aside from the games from Android, you can also sign up for 'GeForce NOW' for 8 dollars a month so you can stream PC games from NVIDIA. A 3 month trial is also given.
For the Shield Tablet K1's price, GSMarena says that it is at $200. The price is quite fair, especially that it came from the GPU maker itself. It's just the lack of accessories that may push you aside, and probably also the fact that it isn't exactly an improvement of the older version of itself.
