It is very uncommon for a movie marketing team to encounter problems by putting the famous star of the film on a poster. But this is exactly what happened in Jerusalem and Bnei Brak where posters of "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" have removed the image of Jennifer Lawrence because it might "incite the feelings of some of the cities' residents."
With the premiere of the fourth and final Hunger Games film coming up, posters of the film were put up all over the world, with one of the film's leading actors -- Lawrence, who plays Katniss Everdeen -- placed on them front and center. These posters were torn down in some parts of Israel because of exactly that -- Lawrence was on them, a female.
Some of those posters were replaced by Lawrence's signature bow and arrow with a fiery crown.
According to an article on Time.Com, "The Hunger Games" Israeli PR firm representative said, "We discovered that public posters with the image of a female are often torn down in Jerusalem, while Bnei Brak does not allow posters with female images." This has been an ongoing struggle of Jerusalem over the display of female images.
The Bnei Brak municipality stated that there is an existing regulation that prevents hanging posters of women because "that might incite the feelings of the city's residents." A representative of Jerusalem, on the other hand, stated that it has no restriction and [Judaism] is unconnected to the poster in question, Time mentioned.
"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay 2" will premiere on November 20.
