Sprint 'Desperately' Offers Half Off Deals to Compete with T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon Wireless

Sprint offers a fifty percent discount for clients who would transfer from the top three carriers starting Friday, Nov. 20 until Jan. 7, 2016.

With the lowest ranking among T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon Wireless, Sprint created bigger promotion discounts for the year-end campaign to help increase its sales and subscriber numbers.

Here is how Sprint's deal will work, according to Arstechnica. If a customer switches from Verizon, T-Mobile or AT&T, Sprint will provide the same rate plans and services at half the price offered by those carriers. However, the promo will not apply for the same deals that Sprint offers for lower rates already. Given that Sprint offers unlimited data for only $70, the network is not offering a discount for a $90 unlimited data of T-Mobile.

In this case, Sprint deals illustrate some drawbacks for not matching the entire rates of other carriers with a 50 percent discount, including unlimited music and video of T-Mobile's and data rollover for other networks.

According to the tech site, they were told that tethering was included in the half-off deals of Sprint and mobile hotspots are enabled for customers' phones. This is in contrary to the announcement made by Sprint that tethering was not part of the 50 percent discount offered by the network.

Sprint said the discounted rates also apply to customers who already have a compatible device. Yet, customers who don't bring phones still can purchase a new device from Sprint through its own payment plans.

Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure said Sprint aims to do "something special to celebrate," which includes the half-off version deal and system enhancements. Sprint would like to offer a service that will increase subscriptions to the network and a quality service enough to make the customer stay until the 50 percent discount runs out.

"After two years, the customer will have to make a choice," Claure said.
