Harry Styles, the "One Direction" heartthrob, has just spent $4,382,355 to acquire a home in Los Angeles, with plans to spend more time in the United States, reports the Mirror.
Twenty-year-old Styles follows in the footsteps of his bandmate Niall Horan, who bought a luxury apartment in the United States last year.
Quoting a source, the Mirror further reports that Styles has revealed his home purchase to just a few people and most are not aware of the precise location of his new luxury pad. He is said to have been shopping for a home for some weeks now, finally settling on one with an outdoor pool, home entertainment room and gym.
"England will always be home, but he will be spending a lot more time in Los Angeles and Hollywood now," sources explained.
According to an earlier report in the Real Estalker, Styles was looking to acquire a swanky gated enclave in Key Biscayne, Fla., last year that was listed for $19.5 million. The new construction covered a floor area of 6,544 square feet and boasted six bedrooms and six full and one half bathrooms, but the deal apparently fell through.
Styles is not the only British celebrity to spend huge amounts to acquire a property in the United States. Earlier, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin purchased a Malibu mansion along with his wife Gwyneth Paltrow, spending a little less than $14 million. The couple's beachside residence is located on the Little Dume and includes four bedrooms and three bathrooms, in addition to a full-size tennis court.
Styles made his debut as a singer with his band White Eskimo before auditioning as a solo artist for the British television series "The X Factor" in 2010. After being eliminated as a solo performer, Styles was brought back into the competition, along with four other contestants, to form the group that would later become known as "One Direction."
In addition to singing, Styles has also appeared in television and film, including the Nickelodeon series "iCarly" and the autobiographical concert film "One Direction: This Is Us." He has performed on a worldwide tour, and won several awards, including two BRIT Awards and four MTV Video Music Awards.
