'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2': Shailene Woodley & Emma Roberts Also Auditioned For Katniss Everdeen Role But Was Beaten by Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence rose to fame for the role of Katniss Everdeen in the "Hunger Games" franchise. However, before she landed the role, Lawrence went up against several other actresses including Emma Roberts and Shailene Woodley.

According to the Daily Mail, the producers of the film embarked on an extensive search to find the best actress to play the part. Between 2010 and 2011, Chloe Grace Moretz was also eyed to star in the dystopian film, but she was only 13 at that time.

Woodley also opened up during an interview with MTV News that she auditioned for the role. However, she admitted that her audition didn't turn out well.

"I definitely auditioned. It wasn't like a great audition. But I think that Jennifer Lawrence is perfect for that role," she said.

Woodley later on landed the role of Tris in the "Divergent" franchise.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail also revealed that Roberts auditioned for the role of Katniss. Roberts also said that she loved the trilogy, so she auditioned, but she felt that the role wasn't meant to be hers.

"I was definitely interested in it, but it was just one of those things that didn't end up happening. But I'm really excited to see the movie," she said in 2011.

"Scream Queens" star Abigail Breslin also auditioned for the role. The young actress currently stars in the hit FOX series alongside Roberts.

In other news, "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" just premiered in some parts of the world. However, fans gave a slew of mixed reviews regarding the movie. Some of them liked it, while others believe that the last installment shouldn't have been split into two parts.

"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" will premiere in the United States on Nov. 20.
