The all-new classic Fiat 124 Spider roadster showcased its convertible design at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show held on Nov. 18, Wednesday.
The 1960's and 70's automobile star made a comeback with the latest technology while still wearing a classic design in Southern California stage.
Tech Times reported that the Fiat 124 Spider has a luxurious interior with a seven-inch touchscreen navigation interface and audio system. Contemporary safety features include rear traffic alert, adaptive headlights, blind-spot monitoring, and reversing camera. Fiat Spider has a turbocharged 1.4-liter MultiAir engine which delivers 184 pound-feet spin and 160 horsepower.
According to LA Times, the comeback was noted by Olivier François, Head of FIAT Brand, FCA - Global as the perfect time to celebrate its 50 years moving on the road. "The 124 Spider expands the FIAT family, bringing to market yet another head-turning, a fun-to-drive vehicle for our customers," he added.
The publication described the Fiat 214 Spider as "actually a Mazda Miata in an Italian suit." Fiat Spider mechanics like the engine and power train were Mazda manufactured, making it grind similar to Miata.
It was also reported that Italian automakers were doubted for automobile features. Auto testing director of car-quality publication Jake Fisher said, "The problem with Italian car companies has been quality and reliability." In the past decades, Italian cars have been acknowledged for having excellent quality. However, according to Fisher, "It's not fair to judge them by their reputation of 20 or 30 years ago, but it is fair to look at the recent data. Fiat models are the absolute worst - and Chrysler is not far behind."
The first manufactured and limited version of 124 Fiats will have a classic dynamic blue mica canvas with a saddle leather seat. The Fiat 124 Spider VIP edition will be out in the US in summer of 2016.
