‘How to Get Away with Murder’ Showrunner Talk about What Happens Next after Annalise’s Shooter is Revealed

Things are getting hot for "How to Get Away with Murder" Season 2 and producer Pete Nowalk discussed what fans can expect for the second half of the show.

"How to Get Away with Murder" has been teasing fans about who shot Annalise and in the mid-season finale of the crime drama called "What Did We Do," the shooter is finally revealed. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it has been a long time coming since clues and hints were shown to fans via flash-forwards and the day of reckoning has finally come for the professor.

One of the season's biggest plot twists came when it was shown that Asher is the driver of the car who ran down the prosecutor. Apparently, she did not side with him about Asher's father committing suicide; Bonnie came to aid him after being instructed by Annalise to bring Sinclair's dead body to the house of the siblings where she is thrown over the edge. They make it appear that the culprit for the murder is Catherine.

Annalise then asks the Keating Five to shoot her in the leg to complete the frame up of Catherine. No one will do it initially until Wes stepped up and did the honors. But instead of aiming for her leg, Wes aimed higher and it was clear that he wanted more than just to cause a superficial wound on Annalise. She then whispered "Christophe" which signaled a flashback showing both Annalise and Eve playing important roles in Wes' childhood.

When asked about "Christophe," showrunner Nowalk said, "Not at all, that's the last thing we figured out. We had written a draft of the script where that was not in it, and we asked ourselves to come up with something different but still in the formula of the show. I never thought I would want to tell the backstory between Wes and Annalise so soon, but what I've learned in writing the show is we usually move things to be sooner and then worry about it later. It felt exciting to look backward, as we're usually looking forward."

Meanwhile, in a report by E! Online, Alfred Enoch aka Wes was asked when he was made aware that his character was the shooter. In response, he said he only knew when they were given the script for that episode. He said they are only given a preview of what they will be doing on a weekly basis which keeps them on their toes as far as preparation goes. He also added that he has not seen the episode yet finds it all cool.
