PEOPLE shared that Jim Bob Duggar wrote a heartfelt note to fathers on how to become a better spiritual leader and home coach on the Duggar family website.
The open letter that Jim Bob made started with their plans of only having one or two children. It took four years for Jim Bob and Michelle to have their first child. He also shared that Michelle was on pills and she had a devastating miscarriage and because of it that they changed their minds about their initial plans.
As Jim Bob wrote, "We read in the Bible that God says that children are a blessing and a reward from Him (Psalms 127:1-5). We had been rejecting His gifts."
Since then, they asked for God's forgiveness and said that, "we gave Him this area of our lives."
Jim Bob, 50, wrote on the postscript of the letter that it is important for fathers to set an example as a "spiritual leader and home coach."
He said, "A great way to start being the spiritual leader and coach of your home is to ask Jesus to forgive you for the things you have done wrong ... and ask Him to take over the steering wheel of your life. (Ask your wife and children for forgiveness also.)"
One of the ways in order for fathers to protect their families is "by removing books, magazines, television, or internet that have worldly or sensual content," he wrote.
The Duggar patriarch added, "Replace them with good things like wholesome music, biographies of great Christians, good old-fashioned family fun and games."
According to US Weekly, Jim Bob's open letter to fathers is most likely related to his eldest son's infidelity scandal. It has been almost three months since Josh Duggar confessed about his infidelity to his wife Anna Duggar when he signed up for Ashley Madison, a website that is known to facilitate extramarital affairs.
