We all know how fans of the Western drama series 'Longmire' petitioned for Netflix to continue airing the show. More than 80,000 likes and hundreds of comments flooded its official Facebook page, proving that it indeed has quite a number of viewers, and it is worthy of another season. But aside from its fanbase, the executive producers and Warner Horizon played a vital part to ensure its continuation. Their words and actions actually moved executives at Netflix to tears.
In a video released by New York Times, Netflix Original Content Head Cindy Holland explained that the Longmire team's passion brought the people at Netflix to tears, and it also ignited the same flame in them. She said that the team care so much about the series to the point that it inspires them to share the desire to prolong the series.
"It's a real joy to say yes to people. I mean one of the most moving experiences that I've had in the last couple of years was when we met with the producers of Longmire. I've never been in meeting where the producers not only cried themselves but reduced us to tears with their passion," shared Holand in her interview.
One of the actors in the show, Lou Diamond Phillips who portrays Henry Standing Bear, shared his gratitude in one of his interviews saying that the streaming giant is a good home for Longmire. He added that the additional 20 minutes of airtime that the website agreed to provide would make the episodes a more cinematic experience for the viewers.
Showrunners Greer Shepard and John Coveny also expressed their appreciation saying that they are really happy to be working with Netflix especially since it has risked so much to make sure that the show goes on.
Season 5 is said to air September of 2016 and fans are looking forward to see more spoliers of the Western drama.
