Justin Bieber reportedly dissed Taylor Swift's songwriting.
In a recent interview with Billboard, as per Yibada, Bieber allegedly threw an insult at the "Bad Blood" singer, saying that he would rather make "real music" than become a hit maker.
The "What Do You Mean" singer further explained that he used to do whatever his record label told him to do such as recording songs that he naturally did not like that much. He also added that it is indeed difficult to make "meaningful, but still catchy, songs without it coming off 'cheesy.'"
His latest album entitled “Purpose” was about inspiring people, and expressing one’s self, according to the pop singer. He also remarked that people can always get inspiration from the past like what he did. Both dark and happy, and his on-and-off relationship with "Same Old Love" singer, Selena Gomez.
"It makes it real, rather than 'Let's call up Max Martin to write you a hit song.' I want my music to be inspiring," he shared.
J-14 shared that this statement of Bieber was a slight diss and insult to Swift. Martin co-wrote Swift’s hit single, “Shake it Off.” In addition, Martin also did a lot of songs for other artists such as Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys.
As expected, Taylor Swift’s fans defended their Queen. Some said that Justin Bieber was just trying so hard to publicize his album.
In fact, one of the commenters exclaimed, "I think we would all be better off if celebs didn't trash each other, if they have a problem they should keep it to them selves."
But, there was a time in history that JB actually thought of Swift as "great." In a tweet to Billboard, he said "she is great. Might be time to make things right and hit the stage together again."
Is it swag to diss another artist’s work for your own? Did Justin Bieber do the right thing for his interview? Or did he just kindle negativity for him by Swift’s battalion of fans?
