Amazon has released a new series following an alternate history of what would happen to America if the Nazis won the war.
According to Vox, the story of "The Man in the High Castle" is loosely based on Phillip K. Dick 1962 novel but the producers have already changed many points in the story.
In a review by Vox, the first few episodes of the season became quite boring for its audience for the episodes were focused on storytelling and character building. However, things began to change and shift on the sixth episode when the story had serious story development. The finale of the season gave more as it became "legitimately one of the weirdest things on television, a show that takes questions of just what evils we're willing to be complicit in when living in any society, then gives them a sci-fi coating that makes them go down a little more easily."
The thing that made the audience find the story really interesting is how it showed not the differences in the society due to the victory of the Nazi but how similar it is on the things that actually happened. Also, the details of alternate United States under the regime of Germany and Japan were absolutely stunning. Frank Spotnitz, the showrunner, said they have thought things through and gave attention to every detail to deliver a realistic depiction of Nazi-ruled America.
According to a review by Andrew Liptak of io9.com, the anticipation for "The Man in the High Castle" is high and the audience was not disappointed.
He said, "Despite the differences, the show is a stunning one, and the subject matter is fantastic for television. There's little differences between our world and this fascist alternate world: street signs, vehicles, the swastika on the American flag, and so forth. There's a certain pornographic tendency towards alternative histories: what can you point out that's different between our world and the next? Philip K. Dick's novel does an excellent job with this, dropping in little hints here and there."
