The heat of the regular season of the NBA has been affecting much of the team in the league. In the most recent events, players were traded from one great team to another, and a coach was axed for a team's slow start and relatively poor performance.
In addition to this, another rumor is being brewed on the side court involving great teams and known players. According to some reports, Carmelo Anthony would be a perfect fit for the Bulls, and the team would be a perfect fit in Anthony's personal goal of achieving an NBA title.
Matt Dollinger, via Sports Illustrated, suggested that for Anthony to be on the Bulls' roster, a significant player should be traded by the Bulls. Matt Dollinger detailed that, "Both the Bulls and Knicks are inching toward reincarnation, but they have yet to fully reinvent themselves. That changes if their two front offices pull the trigger on this trade, which would clear up Chicago's frontcourt logjam and expedite New York's rebuilding process."
Among all the big men who are currently under the Bulls' line-up, Pau Gasol would be the best potential trade counterpart for Anthony. Relieving one front court player from the Bulls would not be a great concern for Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson, and rookie player Nikola Mirotic could serve as a replacement.
If indeed true, it would be most likely that the Knicks would pick Gasol in exchange for Carmelo Anthony. The Spanish sensation would be the best candidate for he is already a part of the triangle offense that Phil Jackson taught him while he was still with the Lakers. Aside from that, the Knicks' coach, Derick Fisher, could easily communicate with his former L.A. Lakers teammate for some executions inside the hard court.
On the flipside, the Bulls having Carmelo Anthony in their line-up would instantly mean an increase force in the over-all offense. And as what Yibada stated, "[Anthony] could also immensely ease the pressure off Derrick Rose as Chicago will no longer be anxious about losing a legitimate superstar anytime in the season."
Now with the trade projections being laid up front, it would likely be that both teams would push through with the said trade deal. However, there are also some negative repercussions to the said transaction, which would absolutely hinder the possibility of the trade working out. But still, we would have to wait for things to materialize, and to never assume unless otherwise stated.
