Spencer Matthews sends himself to rehab after he revealed his steroid addiction at the 'I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here!' jungle.
The actor returned to Manchester, UK, from Australia last Sunday afternoon after staying for three days in the competition for the ITV program. The Daily Mail UK reported that the 'Made In Chelsie' actor will be seeking help for his addiction as his family and his management urged him to do.
"He has one of the best teams in the business around him and they are having talks on how they can save his career," one source told The Mirror.
The source added, "Their main priority is looking after Spencer and making sure he is on the straight and narrow."
According to the insider, Spencer Matthews' family were been distraught after knowing his condition "because they didn't know what was going on. This has come out of the blue," they said.
Matthews' representative declined to comment about the issue when approached by MailOnline. However, it was thought that his habit on steroid reliance belongs to Class C drug and would come at a cost.
The Daily Mail UK further stated that "His lucrative endorsements and partnerships, as well as popular club appearances, may be rocked by his revelation."
But an article on Independent mentioned that the actor didn't quit, he was forced to leave the show. He made his final decision to leave with a thought, "obviously not my call."
He said that he had quit from 'I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here!' because of his steroid addiction "to bulk up for a charity boxing match" and made a "serious error" in taking the pills.
"Shortly after I arrived in Australia I told the production team that I was taking a steroid-based medication that had begun some weeks ago."
"When I started taking this programme of pills it was in preparation for a charity boxing match which, ironically, never took place."
Last Sunday, Spencer Matthews replied to a tweet by Spencer Pratt, a US reality TV star, who made a joke on his steroid use. "@SpencerMatthews I'm gutted you're out of #IAC ! You were gonna takeover that jungle. I did say how is he gonna keep his new muscles tho?"
Spencer replied, "@spencerpratt Mate tell me about it! Leaving was obviously not my call! I would do absolutely anything to still be in there. Was loving it!"
