Celebrity hotel whims revealed: Barbra Streisand’s ‘Don’t talk to me to’ to Jennifer Lopez’s ‘two-page list of essentials’

Whoever said money can't buy happiness hasn't traveled like these A-list celebrities.

While most of the glamorous celebrities of tinseltown can afford to buy multi-million mansions anywhere in the world, they like to feel at home when travelling for shows or on vacation.

For its special "Hotel Week," Curbed looked into the various hotel whims and fancies of celebrities. Any average guest would probably order some food, ask for an extra sheet or get super-excited when the hotel has something "free" to offer. However, it's hard to please the stars.

Take a look at some of the craziest celebrity demands:

Barbra Streisand. While staying at the Castletown House in London, Streisand requested peach-colored toilets to match her complexion. She also requested a dozen designer towels, 10 specific floor lamps for her room and asked the staff to not talk to her unless requested.

Eminem. No matter where the famed rapper is travelling, he always asks that the windows be covered in tin foil to block out any light from the outside. While the rapper is sensitive to light, he is immune to sound. Apparently, he can only sleep after he has turned on "white noise" to full volume.

Nicole Kidman. The "Australia" actress is infamous for being "particular." For a 12-hour stay at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago, Kidman reportedly ordered assistants to ship a set of 800-thread-count Italian pink bed sheets and reams of instructions and diagrams on how to do up a bed. But that's not even the worst part. After everything was shipped to the hotel, she didn't even turn up.

Mariah Carey. The "Touch my Body" singer is exceptionally picky and when she does pick a hotel she needs to be welcomed like a queen. For her 35th birthday, Carey traveled to London and wanted the staff at the Baglioni Hotel to roll out a red carpet lined with white candles so she could make her entrance. In one instance, she also asked for all the toilet seats in the hotel to be replaced before she arrived. She also demanded gold-plated faucets and mineral water for her bath and her dog's bath, too.

Sir Elton John. While staying at the Ouro Minas in Belo Horizonte in Brazil, John demanded a separate room decorated with fresh bouquets of chrysanthemums for his "glasses and accessories." He also insisted that the room's temperature be kept exactly at 60° F to preserve said accessories.

Jennifer Lopez. The Latina crooner reportedly faxed a two-page list of essentials that included flowers, assorted candles and other luxurious items for her two-day stay at the Dorchester Hotel in London.

The list doesn't end there, citing Lindsay Lohan's demand once that her stuff be moved to a different hotel room because she was "sick of the scenery," and Justin Timberlake's request that door handles be disinfected every two hours.

The International Hotel School has a list of other bizarre requests made by guests, such as planning a "dog wedding" and putting up "a dozen plastic pink flamingos" in a guest's room. One hotel manager even had to wear a "ball gown and play fairy godmother" because a guest had misplaced her luggage.
