"Doctor Who" episode nine is a grim one for fans of the Doctor's companion Clara as she meets her demise.
It is no secret that the Doctor's loyal companion Clara (Jenna Coleman) is bound to meet her maker in the ninth season of "Doctor Who." According to Forbes, the actor who plays the protagonist of the series himself, Peter Capaldi, spilled the beans on when Clara will be seen last on the show. The episode kicks off with the Doctor and Clara breathing a sigh of relief after their jaunt through time and space. They are in TARDIS and just as they are settling in, the phone suddenly rings. The caller is Rigsy, the artist who specializes in graffiti work last seen in the "Flatline" episode of season eight.
Rigsy is calling because of an emergency he has no clue how to explain. He narrates that he woke up and saw a tattoo on his body which he cannot remember where he got from. What has him worried is that, the skin ink design is actually a timer and it is counting down fast. The Doctor and Clara decide to check it out so they head out to London. They look at the tattoo, which is clearly an alien form of technology and they check out Rigsy for any other unusual signs. The Doctor realizes that they need to find the active spot where those responsible for the tattoo can be found.
In a report by Entertainment Weekly, thanks to a call to Rigsy's phone, the Doctor and Clara find the hidden street where aliens reside. To the Doctor's chagrin, he finds Ashildr who is now the Mayor for the patch of alien community. Apparently, Rigsy is accused of a crime and is sentenced to die. The Doctor and Clara try to prove his innocence but it turns out everything is just a ruse of the Mayor to catch the Doctor and deliver him to an unknown enemy who strikes a deal with the Mayor.
In the end, Clara, who volunteered to take the device aka tattoo that Rigsy was supposed to be wearing, became the victim of her unselfish act and died when time ran out. She was able to bid the Doctor farewell which made avid fans of the show cry.
