'Winds of Winter' Release Date, Spoilers: George R.R. Martin Teases Shocking Twists for 'Game of Thrones' Book 6

"Game of Thrones" fans have been waiting for the latest season to hit their television screens, but no definite date was announced yet. On the lighter note, the "Winds of Winter" will soon be hitting the shelves! Author George R.R. Martin himself gave out major spoilers on what the book is about.

As per Inquisitr, during a recent interview with Vulture, "Game of Thrones" writer George R.R. Martin was asked on how he would like the book to end. Martin then stated that he's not gonna dish out the ending, but fans would have to brace themselves for something bittersweet.

"People ask me how 'Game of Thrones' is gonna end, and I'm not gonna tell them. But I always say to expect something bittersweet in the end. I think you need to have some hope. We all yearn for happy endings in a sense. Myself, I'm attracted to the bittersweet ending."

Martin oncetold Entertainment Weekly that he himself would want to finish "Winds of Winter" as soon as possible. He even sacrificed two convention appearances, and numerous interviews just for him to get things done.

"I wish it was out now. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish. But I cancelled two convention appearances, I'm turning down a lot more interviews-anything I can do to clear my decks and get this done."

Fans have been waiting for "Winds of Winter"s release since 2011, but as per the editor of the Spanish publication, "Ediciones Gigamesh," Alejo Cuervo, "Winds of Winter" is already panned for release by next year during his interview with The Week. In addition to what he said, fans can already get an assurance that the book would be released by 2016 as Cuervo added that the release date would no longer be delayed unless "unless a meteor should fall."

"Game of Thrones: Winds of Winter" would be filled with numerous twists that would keep the fans at the edge of their seats. Huffington Post stated that Martin will be incorporating twists in the book, but he's still having second thoughts.

"I'm still weighing whether to go that direction or not. It's a great twist. It's easy to do things that are shocking or unexpected, but they have to grow out of characters. They have to grow out of situations. Otherwise, it's just being shocking for being shocking."
