Video Game Analyst Claims Nintendo NX May Cross the 30 Million Units Sales Mark

The next generation of Nintendo gaming console is coming and one video games expert is saying that it can reach unit sales by up to 30 million units at the very least.

Michael Pachter, a well-known and widely respected figure in the video games industry, is excited at Nintendo's latest offering. According to Gaming Bolt, Pachter has been talking nonstop about how he believes the Nintendo NX can live up to the high expectations that its predecessor, the Wii, has set for future generations of gaming consoles. While many industry pundits are not so optimistic about the NX's shot at success, Pachter thinks that there is something to look forward to and that the NX can actually sell 30 million units once released.

However positive his outlook is for Nintendo's newest console, he is also quick to admit that the video game console business is not what it used to be and will prove to be a battleground for new systems like the NX considering the foothold of giants Playstation 4 and the Xbox One. He did not mince words when asked to calculate the chance that Nintendo will go on and enjoy the same success as the Wii.

Pachter said, "I would say modest potential that it bombs. I would give them a 60 percent chance of success, I think they are smart people, I think they have learned a lot from what they did wrong with the Wii U. Are they going to get the Wii magic back? Probably not. But if they go back to a conventional-like console, their only problem they have now is they are very late in the cycle so they're not going to sell that many."

"Could they sell 30 million? Sure. They could sell enough to make a difference and make a profit. They're not getting out of the handheld business until the sales drop to zero - three or four million a year. And that is probably five, seven or eight years out. So no, they're not going to get out of hardware."

Meanwhile, according to Tech Times, two patents have been unearthed by avid Nintendo watchers. The first one reveals an information sharing platform that will allow players to show off their achievements with each other. It is very similar to Miiverse and also allows sharing of gameplay. The second one is the patent for a controller that has a screen in the center.
