Kenny Rogers' former stylish hillside mansion in Bel Air has been listed for $65 million. According to The Wall Street Journal, the current living space of the still-under-construction estate is 9,359 square feet and is expected to explode up to 24,038 square feet once completed.
Built in the 1930s and nicknamed Liongate, this Los Angeles property located on Nimes Road has two concrete lions at its front gate. In all, the mansion has nine bedrooms and 14 full bathrooms. When done, the mansion will have 11 bedrooms and 17 bathrooms. In addition, it features a ballroom with a separate entrance, a gourmet kitchen and a bar, a 12-seat home theater, a billiards room and a refrigerated wine room.
On the outside, the property, which was originally designed by famous architect Paul Revere Williams, includes a glass elevator beside a saltwater pool. It provides access to a gym with a sauna and a tennis court. Construction work on a guest house with three additional bedrooms and bathrooms is still ongoing.
The mansion sits on a 2-acre lot and will be sold along with the furnishings.
Rogers bought the place in the 1970s and being a Leo, added two concrete lion statues beside the main gate of the property. He renovated it extensively and modified as well as removed several of its original features. According to local architect Dean Larkin, who undertook the renovation work, wherever possible, the architects used historical documents and forensic reports to restore original features of the home. Rogers added a tennis court, which, according to him was "cut into the hillside."
The property is currently listed with Mia Trudeau of Hilton & Hyland.
