The sixth time NBA All Star and 2003 Rookie of the Year, Amar'e Stoudemire, has certainly made the NBA games more exciting during his prime. And now that he is on his fourth team with the Miami Heat since he was drafted in the NBA in 2002 by the Phoenix Suns, the center star player is now reflecting on his glory days and the things that should have been. With fourteen years of NBA career and counting, Stoudemire had seen and experienced many things that made him more mature which in a way augmented his foresight about the coming years.
In an interview by the nypost, Stoudemire reflected on his stint with the New York Knicks and how the team should have taken advantage of his presence and the ability of a fellow Knick, Carmelo Anthony. According to Stoudemire via nypost, he stated that;
"I don't think we had enough opportunities to play together. I moved to the bench and [became the] sixth, seventh man. When I was in the game, Melo, he was out of the game and vice versa." He also added that, "I don't think that pick-and-roll offense between Melo and I was ever taken advantage of, which we could have. I don't think the coaching staff at the time really bought into that.''
For sure a pick-and-roll offense would be exciting to watch and it could have led the Knicks into something greater. But still, let bygones be bygones, for according to reports, Stoudemire is now taking some classes about contract negotiation and sports business, and as nypost had postulated, it could be "precursor to becoming an agent."
This kind of sideline activity that the current Heat center player is doing is indeed a proof of his enlarged vision for his future. According to him, "Right now I'm taking it one day at a time, one season at a time. I don't know how much time left I have as a player. I'm just cherishing the moment and try to develop the young guys.''
