Tyler Florence, celebrity chef, spent $2,375,000 to acquire a coveted 6,300-square-foot home in Corte Madera, Calif., last month, reports Realtor. He bought the home, set on a 5-acre lot, the same day he sold his country home in Mill Valley, Calif.
Called the "Villa Madera Estate," Florence's new home includes seven bedrooms and four full and two half bathrooms. Set amidst the pastoral Bay Area, the home features vaulted ceilings and exposed beams that enhance the beauty of its interiors, which are complete with custom-made wooden bookcases and paned glass windows.
Built in 1909, the estate not only retains some of its original features, but also boasts sophisticated amenities. The dwelling of a famous chef, the place comes with a kitchen worth a magazine's center-spread. The home also features a spacious master suite, an enormous fireplace and a great room with wood paneling.
On the outside, the property includes rolling green lawns and a swimming pool.
The property appeared on the market for the first time in November 2013 for $2.75 million and was subsequently listed publicly in February for $2,485,000. It was listed with agent Peter Pickrel of Coldwell Banker.
According to an earlier report, the Food Network star and his wife Tolan listed their old 2,523-square-foot Mill Valley home for $1,995,000 in December, selling it for $40,000 less than the asking price. The couple purchased the designer cottage sitting on an 8,000-square-foot lot for $1,285,000 in 2007. It has five bedrooms and two full bathrooms. Like his new home, the kitchen at the Mill Valley cottage also boasted a designer kitchen, in addition to a vegetable garden in the backyard.
