Game publisher Electronic Arts has announced earlier this week that DICE's popular sci-fi shooter video game, "Star Wars Battlefront" breaks a record. It was said that the game was considered to be the "largest digital launch" by far in the company's history. The company claims that the game is actually the "biggest launch" among the "Star Wars" series released, a report from Gamespot said.
"It's been just one week since we launched Star Wars Battlefront around the world, and on behalf of our teams at DICE and EA, I wanted to thank you for joining us on this awesome journey. And what a start! Star Wars Battlefront is the biggest launch of a Star Wars video game ever and is the largest digital launch in the history of EA. Even better than that, we're thrilled that you're having a lot of fun," EA Studios executive Patrick Soderlund said via a blog post.
According to the report, Soderlund has announced that the company will roll out "lots of new content" in the coming months and players should expect some major changes in the game. It can be recalled that the game was criticized by some avid fans and die-hard gamers because it lack content. Aside from this, he also revealed that new maps and items will be added in the future via the game's $50 DLC pass and players will be able to receive several free updates too.
"We will be adding more of what you love about the game, like new maps and Star Cards, for free in the coming months, in addition to all of the content we have coming with Season Pass. We'll have more to share soon," he said, as quoted in Gamespot.
"The first of Battlefront's post-launch DLC is a free Force Awakens-inspired expansion called The Battle of Jakku, which starts to roll out on December 1 for people who preordered. Everyone else gets it on December 8, also as a free download," the report said.
