Johnny Depp confirms engagement to Amber Heard, flaunts ‘chick’ ring

Johnny Depp has come the closest yet to confirming his engagement to 27-year-old actress and model Amber Heard, The Associated Press reports.

The 50-year-old Golden Globe Award-winning actor was spotted wearing a woman's engagement ring during the promotion of his latest movie "Transcendence" in Beijing on Monday. When a reporter asked if the ring suggested that he was engaged to Heard, the actor laughed, saying: "You can take that anyway you like, absolutely," adding, "The fact that I'm wearing a chick's ring on my finger is probably a dead giveaway. Not very subtle."

Depp and Heard met for the first time on the set of the film "The Rum Diary." In January, E! News was the first to report that the two were getting ready to tie the knot.

The "Pirates of the Caribbean" star was in a relationship with the 41-year-old French model, singer and actress Vanessa Paradis for 14 years. The former couple had two children together before splitting in 2012.

Meanwhile, a report by E! News says Depp and Heard celebrated their imminent marriage at a star-studded event at the Carondelet House in Los Angeles. The bash was attended by many celebrities, including Steven Tyler, Mandy Moore, Jerry Bruckheimer, Ryan Adams, Andy Garcia, Marilyn Manson and Rick Rubin.

Depp's mother, Betty Sue Palmer, his son Jack and Heard's sister Whitney were also present on the occasion. Quoting a source, the website reports that the mood at the event was very festive and the guests were seen dining from an assortment of cuisines, which included American, Korean and Mexican dishes.

Depp earned a following after his appearance in the 1980 television drama "21 Jump Street," making him a teen idol immediately. In "Transcendence," Depp plays the role of an ailing scientist who downloads his mind into a computer.

On the other hand, Heard has appeared in a number of Hollywood movies, including "Paranoia" with Harrison Ford, "Machete Kills" and "3 Days to Kill" opposite Kevin Costner and Hailee Steinfeld.
