Oppo is one name in the smartphone industry known to be always one step ahead of its rivals. The company has been busy providing innovations on their own. In fact, Oppo did introduce to us the 1080p display in smartphones. They also introduced the VOOC, a technology used by Oppo to provide a fast charging system to smartphones. This technology is actually faster than the Quickcharge 2.0 by Qualcomm.
As original as Oppo has become up to this point, it looks like the company decided to take a different direction, and took inspiration from the very mainstream Apple. A new hardware leaks revealed that Oppo is up to something that looks a lot like the "iPhone 6 Plus". This strategic move wasn't just done by Oppo, HTC also introduced a phone that is almost identical to the 6 Plus, only that the rear cam of the HTC phone was centered. Oppo on the other hand, decided to actually mimic not only the look of the phone, but the positioning of the camera as well, only changing the flash's orientation.
The giant Chinese tech company also decided to make everything in the phone's bottom part identical to the iPhone's. So the question that remains, is this a trend among smartphone producers to take inspiration from the very popular phone brand Apple? It's quite hard to tell why Oppo and HTC released a phone that looks identical to the iPhone. But if we can drop a guess, it's either an experimental move to find out if consumers prefer an easily recognizable phone; or, these companies have ultimately figured out that Apple's design is more preferred by consumers.
Still, a metal unibody design is but a part of a smartphone's overall value. In the end, it's what is in the inside of the phone that matters, alongside its overall stability and durability. Oppo is able to produce phones that can actually beat Apple specs-wise. So if this leaked phone comes with an impressive set of specs, it's possible that people who are fans of Apple's design would give it a try.
