Michael Bay, the directorial mastermind behind blockbuster action movies like "Transformers" and "Armageddon," has reportedly sold his Bel Air home to New York property developer Zach Vella for $11.45 million.
Bay purchased the home back in 1999 for $5.1 million and listed it for sale late last year for $13.5 million.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Vella has been picking up commercial and residential properties along both the coasts for a while now. David Parnes of The Agency represented Vella in the deal.
The 7,900-square-foot, single-family residence comprised of four bedrooms and six bathrooms was designed by the late starchitect Jack Warner, the Realtor Blog reports.
The home sports dark hardwood flooring, drywall ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows and slider doors.
Included are a formal living area, a gourmet kitchen, a sitting area with a bar and a screening room. Outside, the house has ample recreation space with a swimming pool and attached spa, outdoor fireplace and a sun deck.
The best feature of all, however, may be the view.
"You can see downtown L.A. to the ocean; the views are completely unobstructed and insane. And this is totally private, with gated driveways and no other properties looking onto it," Parnes told The Hollywood Reporter.
Bay also owns another contemporary pad in Miami. The residence was featured in Elle Décor and was completely renovated to match the extravagances of the larger-than-life director.
Among other things, an indoor squash court was made into a screening room, the magazine reported. Of the master bedroom and bath, Bay said: "We ripped it apart."
While Bay's Bel Air home became a blockbuster real estate sale, the director is now prepping for the release of his upcoming "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie. The trailer of the film has garnered mixed reviews and 30 million views on YouTube already.
