Richard Gere reduces ‘Strongheart Manor’ asking price, now asking $56 million

Richard Gere has reportedly knocked off a few numbers from the asking price of his "Strongheart Manor" in North Haven, New York, listing it for $56 million, according to several news reports.

Gere listed the place in July 2013 for $65 million just months before news of his split from model/actress wife Carey Lowell surfaced. According to Page Six, the couple split after seven years of dating and 11 years of marriage, largely due to their different lifestyles. Gere is a practicing Buddhist and reportedly prefers the quiet life, unlike Lowell, a socialite.

"They have a place in Bedford [NY], and he likes it because it's quiet and he likes the solitude. She likes being in North Haven in the limelight. They live next door to Jimmy Buffett and his family, and they're good friends," an insider told the publication.

The news has remained unconfirmed.

According to the RealEstalker, the couple acquired the 6.30-acre sprawl in three separate transactions spread out over three years. They bought the largest of the three for $6.9 million in 2005 before dumping another $1.67 million on the smallest lot, measuring 0.91 acres, in 2007, and another $2.72 million on a 1.27-acre parcel in 2008.

Current listing records of the property state that the estate has a main house that offers about 12,000 square feet of living space. The multi-family home has 12 bedrooms and 12 full bathrooms. Interiors of the residence boast hardwood floors, marble countertops, high ceilings and large glass doors and windows.

The property encompasses two additional guest houses, a casita, a sun deck, an outdoor pavilion, a tea house, rolling manicured lawns, lakes and dock permits.

The listing describes the estate as, "A unique property that can never be replicated."

More recently, the restaurant at Bedford Post Inn that Gere and Lowell owned also exchanged ownership, adding fuel to the famous couple's split, reports USA Today.

Meanwhile, Gere was recently spotted in New York City shooting his movie "Time Out of Mind," in which he plays a homeless man who tries to get in touch with his estranged daughter.
