Celebrity Real Estate: The Former Home of Alexander Hamilton Jr. is For Sale for $12M

The former home of Alexander Hamilton, Jr. at 4 Saint Mark's Place near Third Avenue, will be listed on the market this week for $12 million. This building, known as the Hamilton-Holly House, was bought by Hamilton Jr. in 1833 from its developer, Thomas E. Davis. During the 19th century, Davis developed St. Mark's entire place, as reported by the New York Post.

With the death of Hamilton's father in the infamous duel with Aaron Burr, Hamilton Jr. shared the building with family members, including his wife, Eliza, and his mother, Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton, a widow of the Post founder, Alexander Hamilton.

The intact building that survived the Federal period at 4 St. Mark's is known recently as the home of punk fashion retailer Trash and Vaudeville. The estate has an overall area of 10,000 square feet.

The building housed performance art avenues in the '50s and '60s, which included the Bridge Theater, where Yoko Ono and The Fugs were hosted.

Anyone who has some $12 million lying around, can have the opportunity to own a piece of the historic property of the former home of Alexander Hamilton Jr. at 4 St. Mark's Place.

The building includes nearly 5,700 square feet of first floor and lower-level retail and four market-rate apartments.

According to Curbed, the historic building may have been landmarked in 2004, but that won't prevent the buyer from making interior updates in the house as the listing's pictures show affected areas all throughout.

Punk fashion retailer Trash and Vaudeville, who is recently known to house in this intact building, has announced earlier this year that they will be moving its storefront to East 7th Street between First Avenue and Avenue A.

"I love St. Mark's Place. There's no doubt it. There's something magical about it. This just isn't any block," T&V owner Ray Goodman told EV Grieve after they announced their move.
