Elvis Presley's honeymoon hideaway in Palm Springs, Calif., is about to hit the market for $9 million just in time for the wedding season.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the romantic getaway Elvis and his wife Priscilla leased for their honeymoon will soon be listed by Hilton and Hyland, complete with Elvis memorabilia.
Elvis and Priscilla leased the home for about a year. They signed the lease before their Las Vegas wedding in 1967 and paid $21,000 a month for the suave residence. A copy of the lease hangs on the wall today.
The residence was purchased by Boston-based investor M.L. Lewis through a trust in 1987 for $487,500. An enthusiastic "Elvis junkie," Lewis has owned it ever since, stacking the house up with collectibles, including wedding pictures of the couple.
"It's literally a time capsule of Elvis. When I walked into the house, I was all shook up," Josh Altman, the famous realtor representing the home, told the Journal.
The house has become a popular place for Elvis fans. Several guided tours of the house are available and a weekend event dedicated to celebrating the couple's anniversary is held every May at the property. Several Elvis, Sinatra and Buddy Holly impersonators will perform at this year's event, according to the Desert Sun.
Located in the Vista Las Palmas neighborhood in Palm Springs, the house was built in 1960 by Robert Alexander, a prominent developer at the time. Originally called the "House of Tomorrow" due to its modern eccentric design, the residence is a three-story home built in four concentric circles. According to Iconic Palm Springs Vacation Rentals, there is not a single square room in the home.
Listing records at Zillow state that the house has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Spanning an area of 5,500 square feet, the house sits on more than an acre of land. The house also has a pool and waterfall features at the front. You can take a video tour of the home here.
Another Presley property is up for sale. The residence, dubbed "Graceland West," is located in Palm Springs and sports a $3.95 million price tag.
More recently, Presley's Beverly Hills home sold for $14.5 million. Peter Morton, co-owner of Hard Rock Café, sold the Trousdale Estates residence in a pocket listing after renting it out for $45,000 a month.
