California's most expensive listing: Beverly Hills home used in ‘Godfather’ lists for $135 million

Welcome to the most expensive listing of California.

A Beverly Hills residence that once belonged to media mogul William Randolph Hearst has hit the listing market for $135 million.

"The Beverly House" has been on and off the market several times. According to Businessweek, the residence debuted on the market for $165 million in 2007. However, failing to find a suitable buyer, the price was chopped a few times before it last listed for $115 million nine months ago. It was also offered for rent recently at $60,000 a month.

Hearst purchased the house in 1946 and lived in the "H-shaped" residence until his death in 1951. Leonard Ross, a popular financier who currently owns the place, purchased it in 1976 for just $2 million, reports ABC News.

Ross decided to put it back on the market after learning of the sale of Fleur de Lys, which went for $102 million just days ago.

The home is a celebrity itself, having appeared in the movies "Bodyguard" and "Godfather" and graced the cover of Vanity Fair. It has also been featured in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. President John. F. Kennedy and his wife Jacqueline honeymooned in the house, which has been leased by celebrities to celebrate everything from Rihanna's birthday bash to a party for Prince Albert of Monaco.

Located on a private hill about three blocks away from Sunset Boulevard, the Beverly House sits on a prime 3.7-acre lot. The residence spreads across more than 50,000 square feet and is comprised of 30 bedrooms and 40 bathrooms. The gigantic home offers several luxury amenities like a nightclub, a cinema, game rooms, family rooms, a library and more.

The house also has two lighted tennis courts, an infinity pool stretching to 75 feet, a 400-seater terrace and manicured gardens. There is a separate two-story gate house, a guest residence with an eight-car garage on top of it and a security house.

The listing describes the place as, "a perfect combination of Spanish and Italian style, with intricately carved ceilings and paneled walls, French doors, balconies, arched ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows, which overlook the famous cascading waterfalls to the pool and the Venetian columns beyond the pool house."
