Billy Butler, Royals slugger, lists Scottsdale home for $2,299,000

Billy Butler, Kansas City Royals' slugger, has just listed his 5,872-square-foot home in North Scottsdale, Ariz., for $2,299,000, reports Realtor.

Constructed in 2007, the athlete's home sits on a 1-acre lot in North Scottsdale's elite neighborhood, Pinnacle Peak. The interiors of this faux-Tuscan style home include wood flooring throughout, vaulted ceilings and detailed woodwork.

The home includes five bedrooms, an office and a children's wing, in addition to a formal living room with a stone fireplace and a formal dining room. Besides spacious walk-in closets, the master suite features a large bathroom with double sinks and a soaking tub.

Among other things, the gourmet kitchen features a farmhouse sink, fridge drawers, ice maker, Wolf double ovens, gas range, Subzero fridge and a pot filler.

According to the listing on Realtor, the exteriors of the property include an expansive entertainment area with a heated pool and spa as well as a grotto and water slide. The home comes with a large built-in BBQ, power sunshades, outdoor fireplace, fire bowl, front courtyard with a fireplace and water feature. The property is complete with a four-car garage.

Butler acquired the single-story home for $1,925,000 in June 2001 soon after he signed a four-year extension with Kansas City Royals for $30 million.

The property is listed with Daniel Williams of Williams Real Estate.

In 2004, Butler was selected by the Royals and signed for a $1.45 million bonus, $250,000 below the recommended slot value for that pick. Butler made his major league debut in 2007, singling in his first at bat, but was sent to the minors after playing 10 games. He was recalled June 19 after the Royals put slugger Mike Sweeney on the Disabled List. He was also selected to play for the United States squad in the 2006 All-Star Futures Game, where he hit the go-ahead home run and was selected game MVP.
