Steven Spielberg and his actress wife Kate Capshaw have put their 7,237-square-foot beachfront mansion in Malibu up for lease for $150,000 a month, reports RealEstalker.
Last June, the high-power Hollywood couple listed the same property for lease for $125,000 per month.
Sitting on a double lot measuring about 1.08 acres, the two-story residence includes seven bedrooms - four downstairs and two upstairs - and nine bathrooms. In addition to a master suite, the upper level features a massage room, a private library and a deck providing views of the ocean. This oceanfront property of the three-time Oscar winner, whose fortunes are estimated by Forbes to be worth $3.4 billion, also includes a high-tech movie theater.
The lower level of the property has glass-topped French doors that open to a stone terrace on the main building's backyard. The upper level of the building, which houses the family rooms, also have a large number of French doors that open to an elevated deck overlooking the ocean.
On the outside, the property has a two-bedroom, self-sufficient guest house with a central courtyard equipped with a swimming pool and attached spa. Sandy paths from the patios on the back of the residence lead to a massive embankment, which prevents the tides from coming near the house and further eroding the small beach.
The estate comes with 150 feet of private beach, which is reportedly disappearing quickly.
The neighborhood is crowded with celebrities, including Dustin Hoffman, Pierce Brosnan, Eric Smidt, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, Ray Romano, Danny DeVito and Rhea Pearlman, Avi Arad, Ken Ehrlich, Steve Lawrence and Edie Gourmet, Jami Gertz, and Steve Levitan.
In an earlier report, RealEstalker said Spielberg bought the larger of the two lots, which includes the oceanfront estate, for $3,375,000 in October 1989, while he acquired the adjacent plot for $3,191,000 in April 2002.
Currently, Spielberg and his wife reside in a more than 5-acre compound in the affluent Pacific Palisades' Riviera area. In addition, the couple owns an equestrian facility in Mandeville Canyon.
