'NCIS' star Michael Weatherly was busted earlier this week for Driving Under the Influence by the Los Angeles Police Department.
According to TMZ, the actor was arrested around 1AM for going over the speed limit in the streets of Hollywood -- and after police officers speculated that he was drunk, they quickly administered a test. The test results showed that his blood alcohol content was way over the legal limit.
He was detained for 15 hours. Since this was only his first offense, no jail time was given to him. The LA City Attorney has charged him with two counts of DUI, and if he might be ordered to spend six months in jail if he is convicted. As mentioned, being behind bars is very unlikely for the actor.
Weatherly, who plays Anthony DiNozzo on the CBS series, made an admirable effort of losing 35 pounds just before filming for the latest season of 'NCIS,' because his poor eating habits were getting in the way of fulfilling his role. He shared that after successfully shedding the unwanted weight, he was really "gratified" when he "went into wardrobe at the start of the season and could fit in a season 1 jacket." In an interview with People Magazine, he shared that he noticed and appreciated the amount of stamina and energy he had prior to his weight gain. He availed of the services of a fitness trainer, and he tried his best to go for foods that were low in carbs and cut back on his alcohol consumption. He is on the way to getting even better, as he competed in his first triathlon in Malibu last September.
This unfortunate incident definitely pushed his journey towards wellness back. A representative for the 47-year-old actor was contacted, but then no response or comment was given from their end, the article mentioned.
