NBA Trade Rumors: Brooklyn Nets to Trade Brook Lopez to Boston Celtics in Exchange of Young Talent

To overcome a disastrous start in the current NBA season, the Brooklyn Nets need to haul over their lineup. The only way for them to obtain young talent is to trade their vets, and that starts with Brook Lopez.

In a report from Sports Blog, the Brooklyn Nets are said to potentially deal three players this season, and one of them is Lopez. The team might be the worst team in the East, but Lopez is an asset being one of the best centres in NBA. If they want to get some young talent to refresh the team, it appears that trading Lopez is one of the smartest moves they could take as he is valuable and the Nets might get some good talents in return for their star player.

Lopez has the highest value in the team, so if the Brooklyn Nets are serious for a revamp, trading him would be the best option. According to the report, the team that could offer a good deal with the Brooklyn Nets is the Boston Celtics. They have several quality picks in the upcoming NBA Draft and could possibly be very interested in getting the Nets' centre to strengthen their position in the East Conference.

According to New York Times, the Brooklyn Nets' general manager Bill King said the team had gambled and lost when they traded Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnet to the Boston Celtics in 2013, while the star players were very productive.

One question left now is, what will happen to the Nets? They have no pick in 2016, are going to swap the lesser of the two with the Boston Celtics in 2017 and will be without picks (again) in 2018. They have been more competitive, but still, they are considered one of the worst teams in the East.

"Now we're focusing on trying to gain younger assets, as we did this year, and we'll keep doing that," King said.
