Copper Beech Farm, a 50-acre estate in Greenwich, Conn., has sold for $120 million, making it the most expensive single-family residence in the country.
According to Curbed, the residence was sold by timber king John Rudey. A trust titled "Conservation Institute LLC" purchased the gigantic estate. Rudey decided to sell because his family was now grown and he wanted to move to a smaller place. Rudey and his wife purchased the place for $7.8 million in 1981.
Copper Beech Farm debuted in May 2013 with a $190 million price tag, which was reduced in September to $140 million and again to $130 million in January this year.
According to the listing records, the residence is set on a 50-acre beachfront lot. Built in 1898, the home is a 13,519-square-foot residence comprised of 12 bedrooms, seven full and two half bathrooms.
Living spaces include a formal drawing room, a solarium, a library, a family room and a sleeping porch. A kitchen, a lower-level wine cellar, a dressing room, a sitting room and more than two laundry rooms are some of its other features.
Outside, the residence has vast stretches of landscaped green gardens stocked with flowering trees and shrubs. Open patios, porches and a viewing pergola also exist on the property. A clock tower completes the stone carriage house, which has ample parking space. The property also has greenhouses and a three-bedroom cottage that sits near the entrance.
Other amenities include a 75-foot heated pool, a tennis court and a large spa.
