Now, Sony is said to have dominated the gaming world over its rival, Microsoft's Xbox. Reports say Sony has made more than $30 million sales worldwide since the game console went on sale in late 2013.
The sales of Xbox One were 10 million and that was last year. Since November 2014, Microsoft has not released an exact sales figure, CNET reported. On the other hand, the sales of Nintendo's Wii U reached 10.73 million as of Sept. 30, according to Nintendo.
Sony's latest 30.2 million sales update marks a huge increase from March 1 sold units' record of 20 million. Sony is targeting to sell additional 17.5 million units starting this week until the end of March 2016.
The increase in sales was made possible after Sony slashed the price of the console in Japan, US and Europe before the holiday period. In October, Sony reduced the price of PS4 to $350 from the original price of $400.
According to Bloody-Disgusting, together with the success of reaching this milestone, new titles are coming to PS4 and are soon to be launched. The games include "Dragon Quest Builders," "Ryu Ga Gotku Kiwami," and "Gravity Rush Remastered." The exclusive game of PS4 called "Bloodborne: The Old Hunter" is available now and the official teaser trailer is shown below.
Andrew House, the president and global CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, Sony's game division, stated in an interview: "We are committed to bringing engaging games and entertainment services to users worldwide. Thanks to the support of our partners, PS4 continues to be the premier platform for game and interactive entertainment innovation."
