Carlos Zambrano, former Chicago Cubs pitcher, has just sold his 6,700-square-foot double-story Lakeview mansion located at 1725 W Wolfram in the Chicago area for $2,155,000, reports the Chicago Tribune.
Built in 2005, the house includes five bedrooms, four full and three half bathrooms in addition to an eat-in kitchen. Sitting on a large lot, the home features finished woodwork and Brazilian cherry floors. On the outside, it includes a detached three-car garage.
Zambarno, who is not playing major league baseball any longer, was facing problems in selling the property, reports Chicago Now. He purchased this home for $2.66 million in 2008 and listed it for the first time for $2,395,000 in December 2012. The property was under contract until April 2013 and subsequently reactivated. The mansion witnessed steady price cuts for about a year until March. The sale was finally closed last week.
The website quotes Zambrano's listing agent Jessica Rivera of Weichert as saying, "We're happy it is sold. It is a wonderful family that bought it, and we hope they enjoy it."
The name of the buyer was not disclosed.
With the sale of this Lakeview mansion, 32-year-old Zambrano has severed all his real estate ties in Chicago. Apart from suffering a loss in this transaction, the athlete took a hit when he sold his 4,000-square-foot residence in River Forest in Chicago for only $675,000 in early 2013.
He purchased the River Forest house for $1,199,000 in 2006 and listed it for $969,000 in August 2011. Soon after, Zambrano purchased the Lakeview mansion.
Zambrano is a Venezuelan professional baseball pitcher, who is currently a free agent. The pitcher is known as one of the best hitting pitchers of recent times. He was the only National League pitcher to have won at least 13 games in each year from 2003 to 2008. In 2006, he became the first player from Venezuela to lead the National League in wins.
